TRIPADVISOR REVIEW: We had a magical 5 nights here- wonderful staff, lovely cabin with a spectacular view across to Bora Bora, great food. Everything you need for a perfect stay is here- snorkeling gear, reef shoes, boat trips, canoes, etc. The pick up (by boat) from the little airport was a lovely start to our stay. Snorkeling was good- but you could also see a lot of the marine life and coral just by walking in the lagoon. I cannot think of anything which I would change- only regret was having only 5 days here!

Dining and nightlife at Vahine Island
Let’s look at two items, it’s high-end restaurant, and the famous bar!
1) Vahine island restaurant
The Vahine Island Restaurant elevates your dining experience with its semi-gastronomic dishes inspired by Mediterranean flavors and local Polynesian cuisine.
If you are wondering what to expect from Polynesian cuisine, read our blog post about the Tahitian cuisine.
With a focus in this high-class restaurant on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, every meal is perfectly crafted.
Breakfast and lunch are à la carte affairs, with highlights such as freshly caught seafood, tropical salads, and light bites.
Dinner offers a three-course gourmet menu, included in the half-board rate, served between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Expect delicacies like tuna tartare, tender meats, and desserts infused with local flavors.

The multi-course dinner is part of the overall package for most stays.
For sample menus and additional details, visit their official dining page or view their dinner menu.
TRIPADVISOR REVIEW: My partner and I stayed Vahine Island Resort & Spa for four days for our honeymoon. We were delighted to stay here and felt very welcomed by all the staff. When we stayed there were only on average 8 guests in total, so this may have made it even quieter than usual, but having arrived from over a week in Tahiti Iti and Moorea (which we regarded as an ‘activity’ week on jetskis, ATVs and swimming with whales), this was exactly the change of pace and style we were seeking before heading on to Bora Bora for a few days to end our Honeymoon. We find it very intimate.
2) Vahine Island Bar: Cocktails with a view

The Vahine Island Bar is a perfect place to end your day, blending traditional Polynesian design with an intimate, relaxed ambiance.
Created with exotic woods and volcanic stones, the bar offers amazing blue lagoon views to enjoy alongside its menu.
- Signature Drinks: Local cocktails crafted from Polynesian fruits and premium spirits dominate the menu. Try the resort’s famous vanilla-infused cocktail, inspired by Taha’a’s world-famous vanilla plantations.
- Prices: Cocktails range from €15–€25 ($16–$27), a perfect refreshing tropical drink while enjoying the sunset.
INSIDER TIP: Pair your drink with a small plate from the bar menu for a casual evening treat—perfect after a day of snorkeling.

Activities and experiences at Vahine Island
For most guests, visiting Vahine is all about relaxation, but there’s a range of free activities, including kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling equipment, and outrigger canoes.

1) Snorkeling and diving at Vahine Island Resort & Spa
The crystal-clear waters surrounding Vahine Island offer an underwater paradise if you enjoy snorkeling and diving.
As mentioned, the island has a pristine lagoon, which is surrounded by a vibrant coral reef.
- Snorkeling: The resort offers complimentary snorkeling gear, allowing you to explore the reef directly from the beach. Expect to encounter lots of small fish, sea turtles, and, occasionally, rays, all within easy reach of the shore or your over the water bungalow.
- Guided Tours: For a better experience, the resort organizes guided snorkeling tours. You’ll be led by experts showing you the best (and most secret) spots.
- Diving: If you really have a passion for diving, the resort also provides excursions to nearby dive sites. These trips include visits to humpback whale watching areas (seasonal) and the opportunity to swim and dive with the famous manta rays.

INSIDER TIP: The best time to dive and snorkel around Vahine Island is from May to October, when the waters are calm, and humpback whales migrate through the region, offering you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these magnificent creatures up close.
2) Spa and Wellness: Relaxation and rejuvenation
After a day of adventure, you can unwind at one of the best spa resorts in French Polynesia.
The spa offers a range of treatments, drawing inspiration from local Polynesian traditions.

- Massage and Treatments: Indulge in massages, facials, and body wraps, each designed to relax your muscles, rejuvenate your skin, and leave you feeling refreshed.
- Scenic Views: Located with views of the lagoon, the spa is a peaceful environment to relax and recharge, allowing you to experience total serenity during your stay.
OUR PREFERENCE: For a truly unique experience, book a Taurumi massage—a traditional Polynesian technique that uses warm stones and coconut oils to relax both body and mind.
3) Moorea & Tahaa Escape
If you’d like to explore the Society Islands in style, you can book the Moorea & Tahaa Escape package which offers the ultimate blend of adventure, luxury, and relaxation, combining the beauty of both Moorea and Taha’a islands in French Polynesia.

Who owns Vahine Island?
Vahine Island Resort & Spa was founded by Bernard Isautier, who purchased Motu Tuvahine in September 1991.
He began construction immediately and welcomed the first guests by the end of 1992.
During this time, Bernard met Sandra, a young Polynesian woman with a public relations firm he hired to promote the resort.
Sandra later became his wife and has been integral to the development of Vahine Island.
Conclusion
So, is Vahine Private Island worth visiting?
If you can afford the luxury, then absolutely. The privacy, the luxury, and the team ensuring you have the best time make the accommodation undeniably worth it.
Vahine Island is a stunning destination with white sandy beaches, and spending 2 to 3 nights here is one of the best choices you can make.
